Study at Universidad Europea: A Guide for International Applicants
Official current fees, English-taught programs, admission tests and the documents you need to apply from abroad.
Universidad Europea is a private university network in Spain, with campuses in Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Málaga and Tenerife. The Madrid university was recognized by Spanish law in 1995, and today the group teaches dozens of bachelor's and master's programs in English. Official fees run from €6,240 to €24,120 a year, plus one-time reservation and enrollment fees.
It suits you if you want an English-taught official degree in business, engineering, psychology, physiotherapy or dentistry and can cover private-university fees. It does not suit you if you want medicine in English (medicine here is taught only in Spanish) or the lowest possible tuition.

Prices are for 60 ECTS, without discounts. In year one you also pay the €150 test, the reservation fee and the enrollment file fee: English-taught Dentistry in Madrid totals €27,670.
You can pay at once or in 10 or 12 monthly payments; without a SEPA bank account you can pay through Flywire. The Valencia list marks some programs as discounted for residents, so ask which rate applies. If your program is not listed, we confirm its fee for you.

Programs and the degree you receive
The network is made up of separate universities, each issuing degrees in its own name. Madrid programs lead to a degree from Universidad Europea de Madrid; Valencia and Alicante programs, from Universidad Europea de Valencia.
There are two kinds of qualifications. Official degrees (Grado, Máster Universitario) are listed in RUCT, Spain's national register of programs. Private degrees (títulos propios) appear in the price list as "Private Master's Degree", Postgraduate Diploma or Specialization. An official degree is the safer choice for recognition at home, though a título propio still qualifies you for a student stay permit. The Foundation Year is not an official degree.
English-taught bachelor's programs in Madrid include business, economics, marketing, international relations, architecture, aerospace, computer and biomedical engineering, cybersecurity, biotechnology, physiotherapy, psychology, sport sciences, design and videogames. Valencia teaches psychology, business, marketing, international relations and tourism in English.
Health programs: what the official records say
- Medicine (Madrid): official Grado, RUCT code 2500083, 6 years, 360 ECTS, 200 places, taught in Spanish only.
- Dentistry (Madrid): RUCT code 2500917, 5 years, 300 ECTS, 280 places, classes in English or Spanish. Clinical practice in years 4 and 5 is in Spanish.
- Dentistry (Valencia and Alicante): RUCT code 2502867, 5 years, 300 ECTS, 200 places in Valencia and 80 in Alicante. B2 level (CEFR) is required if you study in a language that is not your native one.
For an official master's, you do not need your bachelor's recognized in Spain first: the university checks that your degree gives access to master's study in your home country.
Admission requirements for international students
Every applicant takes the university's own tests, and most non-EU school graduates also need their certificate recognized in Spain.
How to apply to Universidad Europea from abroad

Check which route your school system takes. IB, European Baccalaureate and EU-school graduates apply through UNEDasiss accreditation. Graduates from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Egypt, Bangladesh and most other countries need homologation of their certificate to the Spanish Bachiller by the Ministry of Education.

Start the homologation early. You submit your certificate and grades for at least the last 3 years. By law the ministry decides within 3 months of a complete file; in practice it can take longer. Meanwhile the receipt (volante) lets you enroll provisionally, but a refusal can cancel the enrollment.

Certify your documents. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain use the apostille. Nigeria, Egypt, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait need legalization: education ministry, foreign ministry, then the Spanish consulate. Add an official translation, and allow several weeks.

Take the university tests (€150, non-refundable). A 30-minute competency test, an English test and a motivation interview or letter; Spanish-taught programs add a Spanish test. Homologation applicants without UNEDasiss also sit a General Knowledge test (minimum 5 out of 10).

What to know before you apply
Honest limits and how to handle them
- No medicine in English. Some websites advertise it, but the program does not exist. Reach Spanish B2 first or consider English-taught dentistry.
- Dentistry in English still needs Spanish. Clinical years 4 and 5 are in Spanish, so start lessons in year 1.
- Year one costs more than tuition. In Madrid the test, reservation and file fees add €2,050–4,550.
Rankings and accreditation
We list only what official records confirm. The Madrid university is recognized under Ley 24/1995, and its Medicine and Dentistry degrees are listed in RUCT under the codes above. Medicine was re-accredited on July 9, 2024, and leads to a regulated profession in Spain (Médico). We do not quote league tables we could not verify independently; if your ministry or employer uses a specific ranking, we check it for you.
Housing and student life
The Villaviciosa campus has its own residence, XIOR Picasso-Velázquez, with 545 places, meals, cleaning and sports complex access. The last published prices started at about €1,270 a month for a shared room; confirm the current rate.
A room in a shared flat costs around €550 a month in Madrid. Budget roughly €1,100–1,450 a month in Madrid and €950–1,200 in Valencia. According to the university, about 40% of its students are international, from more than 110 countries.
Student visa
You apply at the Spanish consulate at least 2 months before classes. The permit decision takes 7 days, then the consulate issues the visa within 1 month. Key requirements: €600 per month for living costs (€7,200 a year, tuition excluded), health insurance without co-payments or waiting periods, a passport valid 1 more year, a medical certificate and, for adults, criminal record certificates for the last 5 years.
Students can work up to 30 hours a week without a separate permit, within the region that issued it. Graduates of official degrees can apply for a job-search permit of up to 24 months. Full details are on our Spain student visa page.
Other options
Compare other routes if fees or language are a problem. CEU San Pablo University and UCAM are private alternatives, while Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Barcelona are public and cost less.
