UCLan Cyprus: Fees, Programs and Admission for International Students
A British branch campus in the Larnaca district of Cyprus, with a double UK and Cyprus degree, taught in English. No medicine.
UCLan Cyprus is the Cypriot branch campus of the University of Lancashire (formerly the University of Central Lancashire, UCLan), a British university based in Preston. It opened in 2012 and describes itself as the first British university in Cyprus. Graduates receive a double-awarded degree: two certificates, one from the University of Lancashire in the UK and one from the Cyprus campus.
The campus is in Pyla, in the Larnaca district of the Republic of Cyprus, an EU member state. Teaching is in English, and the bachelor fee is €9,000 per year, the same for all students.
It suits applicants who want a British-structured degree in an EU country at a fee slightly below the main private universities in Nicosia. It does not suit future doctors, dentists or pharmacists, or anyone planning to stay and work in Cyprus after a bachelor's degree.

Admission requirements for international students
For a bachelor's program you need a school-leaving certificate or 96 UCAS points from relevant A-levels, plus IELTS 5.5 or an equivalent. The university does not publish minimum grades for national curricula such as CBSE, HSSC or WAEC, so we check your grades with the university before you apply. For a master's you need a bachelor's degree at Lower Second (2:2) level or equivalent, IELTS 6.5, a motivation letter, a CV and two references.
Accepted alternatives to IELTS include IGCSE/GCSE English, A-level, IB, Michigan, SAT and PTE. The university also runs its own online test, Password Skills Plus, for €120. Citizens of the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada (if educated in English), Australia and New Zealand are exempt.
How to apply for the next intake
Check eligibility — compare your certificate and English score with the requirements above. Your passport should be valid for at least two years.
Prepare and certify documents — school certificate and transcripts in the original language and English. Cyprus requires official translation and certification. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain use an apostille; Nigeria, Egypt, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait need consular legalization.
Submit the online form and pay the €50 application fee — the university assesses your file and issues a conditional offer.
Pay the deposit and visa fee — after that, the university files your entry permit with the Migration Department and the Ministry of Education.
Complete the visa file — proof of funds, police clearance, medical tests in your home country and a bank guarantee (see the visa section below).
What to know before you apply
- No medicine, dentistry or pharmacy. If a medical career is the goal, compare University of Nicosia and European University Cyprus.
- The campus is in Pyla, not Nicosia or central Larnaca. Watch a campus video or visit before you decide.
- Scholarship thresholds are not published for your curriculum. Budget at the full €9,000 and treat any scholarship as a bonus.
Rankings and accreditation
The university is accredited by the UK Quality Assurance Agency and by CYQAA, the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education. Individual programs carry British Psychological Society, BCS and ACCA accreditation. We do not quote a ranking here: the only ranking on the university's site is several years old.
For employers and recognition bodies at home, the key facts are the UK and Cyprus quality assurance and the double award. Recognition rules differ by country and profession, so check with your national authority before you enroll.
Housing and student life
The Student's Nest is the residence about a minute's walk from the Pyla campus. According to the university, it has 171 en-suite rooms, plus apartments from one to five bedrooms and penthouses. Prices are not published online, so request them with your offer.
On a student permit you can work up to 20 hours a week during semesters and 38 hours a week in holidays, in sectors approved by the Minister of Labour. The local labour office approves the contract first. Treat part-time work as extra income, not as a way to pay tuition.
Student visa for UCLan Cyprus
The university, not the student, applies for your entry permit. The official processing time is one month with a complete file; incomplete files take longer. You must apply from outside Cyprus, not while visiting on a tourist visa.
- You need a bank letter and statement proving funds for living, study and return. The official list sets no fixed amount.
- The bank guarantee is €850 for citizens of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nigeria, and €350 for Egypt and the Gulf states. A university can post a group guarantee instead.
- Within 7 days of arrival you register and apply for a residence permit, issued for up to one year and renewed annually based on academic progress.
Other options in Cyprus
If UCLan Cyprus is not the right fit, compare it with University of Nicosia (bachelor €10,320–11,820 per year) and European University Cyprus (bachelor €9,240–10,980 per year), both in Nicosia and both offering medicine. Public universities charge non-EU bachelor students €6,834 per year, but at the University of Cyprus most bachelor's programs are taught in Greek; also see the Cyprus University of Technology.
