Alte University, Tbilisi: Programs, Fees and Admission for International Students

Alte University is a private university in Tbilisi, Georgia, with four schools: business, medicine, law and social sciences, and information technology. International students choose it mainly for the English-taught Medical Doctor (MD) program, with clinical training in the VIAN healthcare group, including Ivane Bokeria University Hospital. It also teaches dentistry, computer science, and AI and data analytics in English.
Alte suits you if you want an English-taught MD or dental degree in Georgia at a mid-range fee and a fast admission cycle. Instead of a biology or chemistry entrance exam, every first-year applicant has a 5-minute online interview.
It suits you less if you plan to practice independently in Georgia without learning Georgian. It is also not the right choice if you need a guarantee on how your home regulator will treat a Georgian MD. That answer comes from NMC, PM&DC or MDCN, not from any university, so we cover it honestly below.

Tuition fees at Alte University
Alte publishes fees in US dollars per year, but its fee pages do not state the academic year. The figures below are the fees currently shown on the Alte website. Fees for the next intake have not been published yet, so we confirm the exact amount for your program before you pay.

Programs and the degree you receive
Medical Doctor (MD, English). In Georgia, medicine is a single-cycle MD of 6 years and 360 ECTS. The internship is part of those 6 years, not a separate year after graduation. The last three semesters are clinical, and the whole sixth year is spent in hospitals. Alte lists the qualification as "Certified Medical Professional" and says the program includes preparation for USMLE and FMGE.
Teaching is in English, but patients in Georgian clinics speak Georgian. Georgian universities therefore include Georgian language courses in the curriculum. Treat these courses as a real part of your studies, not an extra.
Dentistry (English). A 5-year program of 300 ECTS. Students train in the phantom center and in the university's own dental clinic.
Computer Science (English). A 4-year bachelor's degree of 240 ECTS. Applicants take an online math test in English as part of admission.
AI and Data Analytics (English). A 4-year program of 240 ECTS. Graduates receive a Bachelor of Computer Science. Alte states the program includes certification tracks with the AWS, Cisco and SAP Academies.
Transfers. Alte accepts transfer students into MD from semester I to VII and into dentistry from semester I to V. You need a transcript with ECTS credits and grades, plus official syllabi from your current university.

Admission requirements for international students
Alte admits international students without Georgian national exams, as Georgian rules allow for foreign applicants. The process has three parts: the university's own selection, recognition of your school certificate by NCEQE (Georgia's National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement), and an enrollment order from the Ministry of Education.
How admission to Alte works, step by step

Check your grades and program choice — Alte does not publish minimum grades by curriculum (CBSE, state boards, FSc, WAEC, Thanaweya Amma) on its international admissions page. We review your transcript against the program before you apply.

Prepare your documents — passport, a 3×4 photo, your school certificate signed and stamped by the school, the completed application form (PDF) and proof of English at B2 level.

Prove your English — a B2 certificate, or a medium-of-instruction letter confirming at least 1 year of study in English. If you have neither, you take Alte's internal B2 test after the interview.

Take the online interview — every first-year applicant has a 5-minute online interview on English and motivation. The invitation usually comes within 3 working days of applying.

Take tests if they apply to you — the math test is only for Computer Science. There is no separate biology or chemistry test for MD.
Every foreign document goes to NCEQE with a notarized translation into Georgian. Legalization depends on your country. Indian education documents need an MEA apostille, and Pakistani documents are apostilled too. Documents from Egypt, Nigeria and the UAE need consular legalization, because these countries are not in the Apostille Convention.
Timeline for the upcoming intake. Alte does not publish intake dates or deadlines on its admissions pages. As a guide, start the process about 2–3 months before the semester begins. NCEQE recognition takes up to a month, then come the Ministry order and the D3 visa. Our full admission requirements guide covers each document in detail.
What to know before you apply
For Indian students: NEET and NMC. Alte does not require NEET for admission, but NMC requires NEET for Indian citizens who plan to study medicine abroad. Without a NEET qualification you cannot register in India later. NMC's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate rules also require at least 54 months of study plus 12 months of internship in the same institution. The Georgian Ministry of Education states that the Georgian MD equals the MBBS and follows the new NMC rules. That is the Georgian position, not an NMC decision. Working as a doctor in Georgia. After the MD, graduates get "junior doctor" status. A junior doctor works under a supervising doctor and has no right to independent practice. By law, independent practice in Georgia requires knowledge of Georgian. At Tbilisi State Medical University, for example, residency programs are taught only in Georgian. If you plan to stay in Georgia, start learning Georgian in year one.
WFME recognition timeline. NCEQE's WFME recognition runs until November 2028. A student who enters now graduates after that. Renewal is a future decision that nobody can guarantee. If you plan to take USMLE or register in Pakistan, check this point with us before you apply.
Fees and work. Next year's fees are not published yet, so plan for possible changes. From 2026, part-time work for a Georgian employer requires a separate work permit. Plan your budget without counting on income earned in Georgia.
Rankings and accreditation
In Georgia, medical programs are accredited and authorized by NCEQE. NCEQE itself is recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) until November 2028. The correct wording is "Georgia's accrediting agency is WFME-recognized". WFME recognizes agencies, not individual universities, and the WHO does not recognize diplomas.
You may see WHO, NMC or ECFMG listed as "accreditations" on some recruitment pages. None of these bodies accredits universities. We do not quote any ranking for Alte, because we have not found one we could verify.
Housing and student life
Alte's relocation service helps students find a place in a hostel or in a single or shared apartment. The university does not publish housing prices, so we confirm the options for your arrival date.
For orientation, Numbeo data for Tbilisi shows about 1,163 GEL a month for a one-bedroom apartment outside the center and about 1,746 GEL in the center. Everyday costs for one person without rent are about 1,730 GEL a month. These are average expat figures. A student sharing a flat or living in a hostel usually spends noticeably less. A monthly public transport pass in Tbilisi costs about 40 GEL.
Student visa
Citizens of India, Pakistan, Nigeria and Egypt need a D3 study visa. You apply online at geoconsul.gov.ge; in India, documents are submitted through VFS Global. The consular fee is 20 USD, plus the VFS service fee. You need the Ministry of Education order and Alte's enrollment order. There is no fixed bank balance: you show your own funds or a sponsor package with a 3-month bank statement.
GCC citizens enter visa-free for 1 year. Indian or Pakistani residents of the UAE with a valid UAE residence permit can enter visa-free for 90 days in any 180 days. After arrival, every student applies for a study residence permit no later than 40 days before their legal stay ends. The fee is 300 GEL for a decision on day 30, 450 GEL for day 20, or 600 GEL for day 10. Full details are on our Georgia student visa page.
